Portrait makeup can be done for families, fashion, beauty, career building, and much more. The makeup artist must take into account the purpose of the portrait, the individual's personality, the individual's unique physical qualities, and whether the portraits are taken in colour or black and white.  You should always try to pronounce your best facial features. Natural but beautiful is the key so that one can see your true self in the image.

Focus on great skin and compliment your eyes by using soft champagne, gold, neutral,  pink or plum shades on the lid with a slightly darker accent in the crease. When lining your eyes smudge the line slightly taking off the hard edge in order to appear more natural. Finish by defining the lashes, false lashes are optional.

If you want your photos to translate well in colour, and black and
white remember a few key aspects of black and white photography. Lighter areas appear more prominent and the darker regions seem to recede. The individuals bone structure has already existing contours and planes creating areas that naturally reflect and absorb light. To create a polished portrait draw attention to your positive features by highlighting the areas you want to draw attention to. Conceal imperfections and shade to define bone structure. The slightest amount of highlighting and shading can make a world of difference so don't feel you have to pile on the makeup! In fact what may seem invisible to the naked eye makes a world of difference through the camera lens.
